Nature Walk Sympathy card

Are you like me and find it very hard to come up with a concept for a sympathy card?  It needs to be quiet and reassuring, not loud and over the top.  As soon as I saw this one by Selena Kempton I knew I would have to CASE it.

It has a soft tranquil feel about it – blue always does that for me.  Think this is a design I will be using again.

I have used the Nature Walk stamp set – such a lovely versatile set.

Have a few more cards to show you later – so be patient!!

Faux Patina - cased

A few weeks ago one of the classes I attended at Debbie’s was to learn the Faux Patina technique.  Loved it so thought I would case my own card I made at the class but as is always the way, didn’t have exactly everything I needed so thought I would show you the two variations.

1.  This is the card we                               2.  This is the cased one
made at class

The second (cased) card I gave as a thank you card to a good friend.

Have a good week crafting.

100 years young

Hubby and I were privileged to fly down to Napier at the weekend for his Aunt’s 100th birthday celebrations.  This is the other project I was working on.  Because Aunty May is now in a rest home and has everything she needs, her daughter requested no presents but I still felt I should do something so I bought a small strong cardboard suitcase from Spotlight and attempted to alter it so that she had something to keep all her 100th special cards and letters in.  This is the result:

It was harder to decorate than I thought.  Haven’t had much practice with this sort of thing so most of it was trial and error.  As Aunty May’s eyesight is very bad, guess she won’t notice the mistakes though.

I kind of cheated with her card.  This is a card I made at one of Debbie’s classes but decided to use it as Aunty May’s card and just added the ‘100 years young’ tag to it.

Such a gorgeous card (thanks for this Debbie).

Some photos that might interest you – the first one is of the grand old lady herself with my hubby Neville;  then the inside of the card from the Queen and the card from the Hon. John Key;  and of course, the cake.

Wishing you all many, many years of good health and happiness so that you too can reach the wonderful milestone of 100 years.

21st memory album

As mentioned in my previous blog I have currently been working on 2 projects.  This is the first one finally finished to the stage where my daughter can use these pages as a wall display for my grandson’s 21st birthday party.  Neither has seen these yet so this will be a preview.  I still have more photos which I hope to add to his album at a later date.  Kim asked me if I could please put together a photo display for Matthew’s birthday and after mulling over what I could do thought that if I made up some scrapbook pages and put them in the clear folders these could be displayed then afterwards put into an album.  BTW I am not going to this party - 150+ young ones and loud music do not combine in my opinion for making a great night out!!!  We will have a family get together later on – perhaps dinner somewhere.

Anyway here are the pages I have made for him.  The photos on these pages look a bit blurry here but I can assure you they are much crisper and clearer in real life.

Have a great crafty week.

As promised ….

Finally I am updating my blog.  Sorry to have taken so long.  The last time I posted was just before we left for THE BIG CRUISE!!!  Yes, it was absolutely wonderful and hubby and I enjoyed ourselves very much.  If you have never been on a cruise before I can honestly recommend it.  I will post some photos from our cruise but before then here is a 70th Birthday card I made for my very good friend and neighbour Joan.  Once again congratulations Joan and hope you enjoyed your birthday.

Joan's 70th birthday card

Just had to try out my new dies, the labels framelits and the edgelits as well as the edgelits embossing folder.

I don’t think the DSP is current but am trying to use up all my back supplies because I want to not feel guilty about buying more.

Now I have made other cards during my AWOL period but somehow have forgotten to photograph them before sending them off.

I have also been to a few classes recently and made some gorgeous cards which I will share with you at a later date.

Our Cruise photos:

These are just a few photos of our cruise around New Zealand, then over to Tasmania and Australia.  As you can see we were so, so lucky with the weather and had beautiful sunny days practically the whole cruise.  A wonderful late summer as we went in late March and the first 2 weeks of April.

Update on Me:

Just a quick update to let you all know that I am still at this stage off my chemo medication and am really enjoying feeling a lot better.  I still have to go every 6 weeks for a bone strengthening infusion and will be seeing the Haematology specialist at the end of June.  Before seeing him I will be having more blood tests and another MRI scan and the results of these will determine whether I have to go back on the chemo or not – so keep your fingers (and toes!) crossed for me.  This is to do with the Myeloma cancer;  I still seem to be in remission for the Ovarian cancer and don’t think I have to go back to those specialists until about August or so then will know if that is still okay.

Now this is a very, very long post for me.  At present I am busy working on two projects, both special birthday ones – a 21st and a 100th birthday!  Will show you what I have done when finished.

Take care and happy crafting.

Thanks for popping in to catch up on what is happening in my life. I enjoy sharing my love of stamping and cardmaking and invite you to have a look at the projects I have made. You are welcome to take my ideas and use them in your own creations.
