Embossed card trial

Didn’t exactly turn out the way I envisaged.  Saw one like it on Splitcoaststampers but somehow her embossed lines stood out more whereas mine seem to fade into oblivion!

Anyway here it is:

Background is stamped using a variety of stamp sets – it’s not DSP paper. What else can I say??

WOW PaperKrafters afternoon

As promised here’s some photos from last Saturday’s thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.  We made four great projects, talked a lot, and all in all had a lot of fun.

A shot of some of the tables with the ladies busy creating.  A very hot afternoon but that doesn’t affect the enthusiasm of these crafty ladies!

This cute as card was demonstrated by Janine.  Very timely as yesterday was my grandson Tyler’s 10th birthday so guess what he got as a birthday card!  Mind you it didn’t stay intact for long as those jelly worms were far too tempting.

The cute little box containing some heart shaped soaps was my upline Karen’s demo.  We all had great fun making these with lots of oohs and ahs.

A bit of origami folding here which had some of us (read me) totally confused.  This was shown us by Debbie who unlike me, was not confused.

Last but by no means least was this pretty altered pad with a small matching card.  Sally was the demonstrator for this and I love her colour scheme.

Shame you couldn’t all join us lol.   You also missed a lovely afternoon tea.

My blog updates

Just in case you hadn’t noticed I have updated my blog to include some extra pages giving information on Stampin’ Up! products and some useful information.  Hope you will check them out.

Starting off very slowly as a demonstrator, but hopefully will achieve something at the end of the day!!  Now I have to set a date for my first demonstration or maybe someone will host an afternoon or evening with me.

Life has been very hectic this week with my spending some time down country with my daughter who developed a very painful eye condition and needed to be transported to the nearest town centre for optometrist and hospital appointments.

Maybe things will settle down a bit more next week.  I will in the next couple of days try and post photos of the lovely projects we did last Saturday at the WOW PaperKrafters team afternoon.  Also have another card to show you.

Have a great weekend all  …  I’m off to my grandson’s 10 yrs birthday party tomorrow with lots of 10 yr old boys though he told me it isn’t really for girls because it might be a bit rough (they have planned a water bomb fight)!!

Come to a WOW of an afternoon!!

This Saturday 13th February is the WOW PaperKRafters 2nd team event and it should be a great afternoon.

It only costs $30 for 4 projects, afternoon tea, and spot prizes plus you will receive $10 credit on the day for all orders received over $50.  Lots of fun and fab projects.  If you have never been to one before, ring me on 021-739 137 and book yourself in.  This is being held at West Harbour (I will give you full details when you book) commencing at 1 pm, finishing at 5 pm.

As I am now a Stampin' Up demonstrator and a member of the WOW PaperKRafters team I have prior knowledge of the projects that you will be doing AND THEY ARE FABULOUS!!  Can't wait.

See you there?

What have I gone and done now!!

My family think Mum has finally lost the plot!!  Today I went and checked out Contours gym (for ladies only – didn’t want sweaty guys strutting around admiring their own abs).  And guess what – yes I’ve signed up for six months!  Yikes – after years of inactivity and illness it will probably kill me.  I meet my trainer and start on Monday.

Seriously though, it’s something I absolutely have to do if I want to fight this cancer and even if I have to have more ops and chemo then if I am fitter and leaner then I will cope with it much easier.

So, hopefully by the time May comes and I go to the Sydney convention, I will be looking better and feeling happier with myself – that’s if I survive!

Well, think that’s the end of putting all my new lifestyle plans in place.  What a week this has been!  Now may be I can do some creating.

Have a good weekend all.

Guess what …

I hinted yesterday that I would have some news to share with you and I have!!  Last night I signed up as a Stampin’ Up demonstrator.  Told you that I was going to continue with my plans regardless :-)  I’m also looking at going to the Stampin’ Up convention to be held in Sydney in May.  All very exciting but a bit mind-boggling at the moment.  Went to bed last night thinking “what have I gone and done now!!”  Not quite sure to what extent I will be taking this or whether I will just be content to be a hobby demonstrator.  Time will tell.

So now I will have to update my blog to reflect my new ‘status’.

Thanks Karen (my Stampin’ Up upline) for making the whole process (reasonably) painless.

Watch this space all.

2 out of 3 is good isn’t it?

Hope you don’t mind my sharing this with you.  I am not trying to be morbid and don’t think for one minute that I am depressed, because I’m not.  I just find that writing about this helps me to come to terms with what is going on in my life.

The last couple of weeks seem to have been dominated by health issues and check-ups.  As you all know I have an ongoing problem with Fallopian (treated as ovarian) cancer and also had a breast cancer scare several years ago.  Had a CT scan, followed by a visit to the breast clinic for a mammogram and saw the specialist, had my blood test and then had my oncology visit today.  Good news is my mammogram was okay, nothing showed up on my CT scan but my CA125 (ovarian cancer marker) levels were up again meaning that after finishing my last round of chemo 12 months ago, it’s not looking so good again but luckily this cancer is very slow growing.  So as I said, 2 out of 3 must be good.  It is now seven years since I was first diagnosed and had my first round of ops and chemo.  Can’t believe it has been so long.

I’m just going to get on with living as I have lots I want to do in the future so I am not going to worry about this until I have to.

Actually, I might have some exciting news to share with you tomorrow … so keep tuned in.

Just Add Ink Challenge 2

This great new site is being run by Stampin’ Up Australian and New Zealand demonstrators and runs challenges which is what I need to try and get my creative juices running!!  Well, I’ll try anyway.

IMG_1047-2

I   missed the first challenge so this is my entry for this week.  The only stipulation was to use hearts on your card inspired by the upcoming Valentine’s Day.

I find it very hard to get a photo showing all the finer details.  For instance as well as the hearts that are clear embossed on the right, there are flourishes clear embossed on the patterned central heart but these don’t seem to show up in my photos.

Supplies used (all Stampin’ Up unless otherwise stated):
Stamps:  Priceless, Yummy
Cardstock:  Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Pink Pirouette, Sweet Always DSP
Inks:  Versamark, Chocolate Chip
Other:  Clear embossing powder, Pretties Kit, Chocolate Chip ribbon.  Hearts were cut out using a Slice Machine and the Basics 1 design card.

Thanks for popping in to catch up on what is happening in my life. I enjoy sharing my love of stamping and cardmaking and invite you to have a look at the projects I have made. You are welcome to take my ideas and use them in your own creations.
