Janet’s Corrosive Challenge #18

Think this challenge is great – it is to design a card using the colours contained in your country’s flag. One small hitch though – New Zealand uses the same colours as England, Australia and the United States – red, white and blue.

Now I must admit here that I am using a previously made card for this challenge. It fits the bill perfectly though as not only does it contain the correct colours, it incorporates stars which are on our flag (above).

Here is my entry:

Thanks for looking.

Rainy days can be fun

Just the perfect excuse to stay inside and create. I have been having fun trying out different ideas and colour combinations. Here is a selection of what I have made.

Here I have tried the colour combination of Perfect Plum, Always Artichoke and Certainly Celery. I stamped the Upsy Daisy stamp on using Versamark and embossed it with the clear embossing powder. The word Thanks from the Love Your Dreams set has been stamped on using the Basic Brown inkpad which actually works quite well and gives it a slightly green tinge.

Wasn't quite sure about the colours when I started as they are all quite dark but really like it now it's finished and think it has an elegant look to it. What do you think? You may have to enlarge the picture to get a better look.

Another Upsy Daisy image! Really love this stamp (as if you can't tell!) I have used the new In-Color cardstock - Pacific Point and Whisper White. I used Versamark for stamping the image and embossed with white embossing powder.

Joan lent me her Nestabilities folder Labels 1 while she is away so I am having fun playing with it. This is the first card I have made. I enjoy doing pinning and think it looks nice here. Apart from the label all supplies are Stampin' Up.

Now this was an experiment. I have seen a lot of cards lately using decoupage images. I picked some sheets up in Australia and thought I would give it a go for a change BUT I messed up! Thought you just stuck one sheet on another and it wasn't until I had finished that it dawned on me that you should separate them using dimensionals. Duh!! However it won't go to waste as I am sending this to a lovely 96 year young lady in Napier (an Aunt of my husband). Unfortunately she is nearly blind so won't notice that it has been assembled wrong and as they say, it's the thought that counts.

Hope you are enjoying the opportunity to be inside having fun like me!

Janet's Corrosive Creations challenge

These are the cards (couldn't decide which one) that I am entering for Janet's challenge.  This challenge to make a masculine card was very timely, as I have just had to make cards for two male birthdays.IMG_0650-2

The first is for my neighbour David - his birthday is today so Happy Birthday!!

I have attempted to combine stripes and circles using the Stampin' Up sets Big Pieces and Riveting.  Thought the buttons would give it a more masculine feel!

This is for my grandson Matthew who turns 18 tomorrow and is crazy about motorcross and dirt bikes.  I am not altogether happy with how this turned out.  The edges of the picture and underlying mat have been roughened to help create some texture. The word "happiness" is from the Stampin' Up Warm Words set.

Please excuse the photo quality - these were taken at night with the cards just lying on top of my cutting mat.

Leslie's blog candy

Check out this wonderful assortment of blog candy!!  One of my wonderful SBS sisters, Leslie is giving this away to celebrate her 42nd birthday on July 7th.  This is open to everyone so go to her site to find out what you have to do.

What a great selection!

Holiday's over ... back to crafting

I'm back from my holiday in Queensland - wonderful time and great to catch up with family and friends.  Spent most of the time in Brisbane as well as 2 nights in Noosa and 9 nights in Hervey Bay.

IMG_0573Check out the two new friends I made when staying with Gloria & Don in Hervey Bay - their two dogs, Sam and Buffy.  Talk about opposites!! But they are gorgeous, aren't they.

Sam was rescued from the SPCA at Christmas as he was unwanted and would have been put down - who wouldn't want him - he's the most gentle dog I have ever seen - a real gentle giant - so I'm pleased to say that he now has a wonderful new home with Buffy.

Thanks for popping in to catch up on what is happening in my life. I enjoy sharing my love of stamping and cardmaking and invite you to have a look at the projects I have made. You are welcome to take my ideas and use them in your own creations.
