Looking back

I should have done this a few days ago as my birthday is well and truly gone now.  However, I did want to show the beautiful cards I received.  Here is all of them:

Can you see the big one at the back.  You certainly can’t miss the 70 on it.  Here is a more close up view.  My friends Anne & Pete were not going to let me forget how old I now am!!  Cruel.

While I would love to show each one separately as they were all beautiful, I want to showcase the handmade cards.

Above left to right:  Karen Rogers, Joan Hallett and at the bottom one from our grandson Tyler (the 13 yr old in my previous post).  All special in their own unique way.

Thanks to everyone who made this birthday so special.  (They were all fibbing when they said I was 70.  Goodness knows where they got that absurd idea from!!)

Wow .. he’s a teenager now

My grandson Tyler turned 13 last Wednesday and we all went to the zoo which was open until 7:30 that night.  Good fun with a band playing in the rotunda though some of the animals were in a sleepy mood and didn’t want to perform for us!

Afterwards we went to a restaurant nearby for dinner.  For his birthday we contributed to his being a “Junior Zookeeper for the day” for which he is booked in during the May holidays.  He should enjoy this and it will give him an idea of whether he really wants to pursue a career with animals later on.

Here is the card I made him though my monsters are nowhere near as good as the ones he draws.  Put in the surfboard because he had been away over the holidays and had done some body surfing.

A fairly simple card but he seemed to like it.  Happy Birthday teenager – the last of our four grandsons to reach this milestone.  No more cuddly little boys any more!!

Cards make & take with cake

Had a lovely card class at Karen’s yesterday afternoon.  We not only made 3 lovely cards but afterwards Karen brought out a yummy chocolate cake and cream for my birthday.  I also got a lovely card and everyone sang Happy Birthday.

Wasn’t that really sweet of her and such a lovely surprise.

These are the cards we made:

I will show the card Karen made me in a separate post as I have other cards I received that I want to showcase too.

Thank you very much Karen for the delicious cake (another kilo added to the stomach!!)

This time it’s a 70th birthday!!

A very, very old friend (not in age but in years of friendship!!)is having her 70th birthday next week.  Actually I have known her all my life – her grandmother was a friend of my grandfather and the two families have kept in touch ever since.  Just a mere youngster lol   As usual I got my days mixed up so she received her card and present a week early.

I wanted the numbers to dominate the card, and they sure did!  In fact it didn’t leave any room for more feminine embellishments so hope it didn’t look too ‘masculine’ for her.  I bravely used Melon Mambo and Elegant Eggplant for the cardstock with the numbers and ribbon in silver.  I say bravely, because I am not known for bold colours in my cards but felt I really need to splash out and become more flamboyant.  Note the pinning around the edge of the Melon Mambo.

Happy Birthday Janice for next week.  Hope you have a good one.

Remember when …

Do you remember the old telephone boxes.  Back in my childhood very few people had their own telephones but there was a telephone box within walking distance of most homes.

I made this card to enter in the SUO Challenge #64 (suochallenges.com) and this one was to use something that's included in this year's Sale-a-bration catalogue (or catalog as the Americans spell it).  In compliance with the rules everything used in this card is Stampin’ Up product.  See the full list of what I have used below:

I wanted this to look like an old black & white postcard but used red for the phone box (which now I look at it appears a bit ‘drunk’).  This was to make it the focal feature and have it stand out from the black & white.

Stamps:
Feeling Sentimental (Sale-a-bration catalogue)
Lovely as a Tree
Word Play
French Foliage

Cardstock:
Basic Black
Whisper White
White Creped Filter Paper (used over the Whisper White to give an aged fragile look)

Ink:
Basic Black
Real Red

Birthday Boom

It’s that time of the year when there is one birthday after another.  Sally had her birthday a week or so ago but I have only belatedly given her my card:

This was a quick and simple card.  I am really liking using white cardstock with just one colour.  I believe you had a great birthday (with a lovely cake) Sally – all the best.

Debbie’s birthday was a BIG one!!  Her 50th.  Compared to me she is just a baby still.  Once again – Happy Birthday Debbie and thanks for a great evening.

Over the next few weeks there will be plenty more cards to be posted.

Happy crafting all.

Thanks for popping in to catch up on what is happening in my life. I enjoy sharing my love of stamping and cardmaking and invite you to have a look at the projects I have made. You are welcome to take my ideas and use them in your own creations.
