Scrapbooking class by ME!

Last Wednesday I held my very first scrapbooking class.  A little bit chaotic, but I have learnt heaps from it and hopefully the next one will run much smoother.  All in all though felt it was a big success though the proof will be by how many come back next time!

We used the Simply Scrappin’ Petal Party kit to make a 12x12 layout.  This was my suggested layout (cased from somewhere??).

I also put out quite a few other bits and pieces for them to use, as well as a variety of punches but now feel that I gave them too much choice considering that most of them were new to scrapbooking and could probably have felt more comfortable with just a few materials to work with.  Next time I will set a specific project for them and give them individual kits ready to make up with their own photos (will let them know beforehand what the theme will be).

I had also done four vintage type layouts on 6x6 cardstock (I used the 12x12 Kraft cut into four) as I am starting to put together an album using old family photos.  Was really pleased with how these turned out so must finish doing more for this album.

Now isn’t that little toddler above (left) with her parents a gorgeous chubby cheeks?  Hee hee it’s me.  Oh I absolutely adore old photos, they are so fascinating.

Win a stamp set …

Every order placed since the 1st April and up to and including the 30th June will go in the draw to win the stamp set below.  This lovely set – Good Neighbours – was only available during Saleabration which finished on the 31st March but if you missed out, then I have a spare set which you can win.

The reflection card on the right was made using this set – we did this at Extravaganza but as we were rather pushed for time, my background sponging isn’t the best but it will give you some idea as to what can be made with it.

Who knows, I might even throw in a few little extras so hurry up and place an order before 30th June.

Thanks for your encouragement

What a lot of lovely encouraging comments I received about my first workshop so thought I should fill you in on how it went.

I enjoyed it and found it very laid back as it only consisted of my sister, niece, and a friend of my sisters (plus my niece’s 10 year old daughter).

IMG_1161 Unfortunately, or I should say, disappointedly, none of the ladies from the Red Hat club my sister belongs to of which 6 had definitely accepted the invitation turned up. Well their loss as I had made a second make and take especially for them – a bookmark featuring the new stamp set Tote-ally Tess complete with her red hat.

I have got two new converts though – my sister and her friend and between them (and my daughter who couldn’t attend) spent enough to enable my sister to get a hostess set so I was very pleased about that.

IMG_1165 For my demonstration card I used the perennial tried and true card using the very versatile So Swirly wheel with a few little flowers from the Priceless stamp set added then glittered.  This was stamped using the lovely new Rich Razzleberry cardstock and ink.  This card always has the WOW factor for first time attendees.

IMG_1163 I then cased the card we did at Jacque’s demonstrator training the other Saturday – an easy card for beginners but this also has them realising that yes, they can make lovely cards using Stampin’ Up! products.  The stamp set can only be obtained by hosting a workshop and earning enough sales for a Level 2 stamp set.

I am now looking forward to my first scrapbooking class which I am holding at my home this coming Wednesday evening at 7 pm.  If you would like to attend please email me.  You would be very welcome.

My first workshop tomorrow!

My sister is kindly hosting a workshop for me tomorrow.  Bit nervous as I don’t know any of the ladies that are coming however I am all prepared and hopefully won’t leave any essential things behind as she lives about an hours drive away so can’t just nip home and get it!

Not sure whether I showed you the little card I made as my swap for our team’s training session last Saturday.  I have used the new Autumn DSP and stamps and used the Top Note die in my Big Shot to create the top part.

Received so many lovely swaps back – I have mounted these on a display board to show the ladies tomorrow and know they will be very impressed!  Will have to take a photo of them all to show you.

Next Wednesday evening is another first – my first scrapbooking class.  Haven’t had as much interest as I had hoped but there are two definites so far.  I have been busy doing some example scrapbook pages so will show you later.

Will take some photos of both events and post.

Have a great weekend all.

Sweet Debbie …

IMG_1153… a fellow SU demonstrator called around yesterday afternoon and just look at the beautiful roses she brought for me.  She thought I needed some cheering up as I didn’t receive very good news at my oncology check-up last week.  Won’t bore you with the details now as I still have a lot of questions myself, and once I have a clearer picture of where I’m at and what’s going to happen in the future, will let you all know.

Anyway despite all of that I had a really nice day IMG_1154 yesterday.  Went to the gym (yes, I am still going and now it is more important than ever to keep it IMG_1159up as long as I can).

I have found myself a gardener who has updated and tidied up my garden, pruned trees etc. and who will come back at regular intervals to maintain it.  That’s a big stress relief as neither my husband or I are gardeners, and though we managed to do it before now find it a major chore.     Here are some photos showing you how nice it looks now (glad I didn’t take any before photos):

It needs some nice flowers added but with winter coming it’s not a good time to plant them so will wait until Spring.  In the meantime at least it looks tidy.IMG_1156

I am busy preparing for my first demonstration on Saturday, then next week have planned a scrapbooking evening (that’s if anyone replies and comes!!)  This is keeping me busy and takes my mind off my health issues.  Will have some card photos hopefully to post either later today or tomorrow.

No more peeks …

Have fun and happy creating!

Thanks for popping in to catch up on what is happening in my life. I enjoy sharing my love of stamping and cardmaking and invite you to have a look at the projects I have made. You are welcome to take my ideas and use them in your own creations.
